Our first thought; Can you win a Texas Title in Gymnastics when you reside in Hope, Arkansas? Obviously, you can, because it just happened. Way to go Zoie!

Local gymnast Zoie Smith recently competed in the Texas State Gymnastic Championships held in San Antonio, Texas. Yes, she was crowned Texas State Champion on the balance beam in her age division.

Smith, a resident of Hope, Arkansas, is one of 11 XCEL Gold athletes that compete for the Northeast Texas Elite Gymnastics team based in Texarkana, Texas. So that is how it is done.

Zoie also received a silver medal in the floor exercise category, a bronze medal on the vault, and placed second in the all-around competition. Smith’s individual accomplishments helped her Northeast Texas Elite team secure the team State Championship as well.

Zoie will soon get to compete in the Regional Championships in Houston, Texas. For the Regionals, Smith will be competing against gymnasts from Arkansas, Kansas, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Oklahoma.

Zoie is a third-grade student at William Jefferson Clinton Primary School in Hope, Arkansas. Smith is always cheered on at all her competitions by her parents, Bryan and Emily Smith, and brother, Blake Smith.
