Arkansans in Miller County are voting on several issues during the November 2016 elections. Do you know what the issues listed on the ballot actually mean? The videos below explain each issue's purpose and meaning in simple terms.
Learn what the issues are before you step into the voting booth. These videos were put together by the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.
Issue No. 1 - An Amendment to the Arkansas Constitution Concerning the Terms, Election, and Eligibility of Elected Officials
Issue No. 2 - A Constitutional Amendment to Allow the Governor to Retain His or Her Powers and Duties When Absent From the State
Issue No. 3 - An Amendment to the Arkansas Constitution Concerning Job Creation, Job Expansion, and Economic Development
Issue No. 4 - An Amendment to Limit Attorney Contingency Fees and Non-Economic Damages in Medical Lawsuits
Issue No. 5 - An Amendment to Allow Three Casinos to Operate in Arkansas, One Each in the Following Counties: Boone County, Operated by Arkansas Gaming and Resorts, LLC; Miller County, Operated by Miller County Gaming, LLC; and Washington County, Operated by Washington County Gaming LLC
Issue No. 6 - The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment of 2016
Issue No. 7 - The Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act
Three of the issues have been technically removed although they will still show up on the ballot. Votes for Issues 4, 5 and 7 will not be counted because the Arkansas Supreme Court has struck them down. Those issues were still on the ballot when I voted early so I still cast my vote as I would have before the supreme court ruling.
