The Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department will be participating in a “Fill the Boot” fundraiser over the next three Fridays from 4:30pm to 6:30pm for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This a time-honored tradition of firefighters hitting the streets and collecting donations that will help kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related muscle-debilitating diseases live longer and grow stronger.  Contributions also help fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. They also help send almost 100 local kids to “the best week of the year” at MDA summer camp at Grant Walker – all at no cost to their families.

The TAFD collected $13,320.03 during the 2017 campaign.  This year the goal is to collect $15,000.  The TAFD will be collecting donations near the intersection of Jefferson and Arkansas Boulevard and near the intersection of E 7th and Hickory.  Please stop by and help the firefighters fill their boots with whatever cash or loose change you might have so that they can meet their goal.
