Elementary Teacher of the Year – 2020-2021-Christy McCarter

Christy Carter has 20 years of experience in the education field. Christy is a fifth-grade English language arts reading teacher at Spring Lake Park elementary school.  Christy has a bachelor of science interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University Texarkana and has completed the TISD leadership academy program and serves as a team leader and a member of the academic lighthouse team at Spring Lake Park

Secondary Teacher of the Year -2020=2021 Kara Wick

Kara Wick is the secondary teacher of the year from Texarkana Independent School District is a Latin, English, and  College Prep teacher at Texas High School. Kara has been in the education field for 10 years. Kara has a bachelor's of science in English and a master's in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University Texarkana. Kara is the lead development workshops for the district completed the chrome cart Academy and service grade level PLC leader and a curriculum development consultant as well
