CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocates in Texarkana needs volunteers now more than ever.

The Texarkana Court Appointed Special Advocates had this to say about the need for volunteers in our area:

We are seeking volunteers to change a child’s story. Every child deserves to have a CASA with them. Give them hope by giving your time. A CASA is a community volunteer just like you! You will be by the side of a child that has been removed from their home and is going through one of the scariest journeys of their lives. You will give them a voice by advocating for them.

CASA programs collaborate with the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), Child Protective Services (CPS), and other key advocates in the child welfare system to ensure that children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect are placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.

Last year, 79 CASA volunteers served 353 children in the child welfare system in Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas, but an additional 225 children needed a volunteer to advocate for their best interests. Consider making a difference for these children by becoming a CASA volunteer.
