Bubba's 33 is a popular pizzas, burger, and beer sports restaurant and will open in the old Home Zone furniture location next to Central Mall on Mall Drive in Texarkana.

What in the world is Bubba's 33 all about? Founder and CEO, Kent Taylor, earned the nickname “Bubba” over the years thanks to his people-first mentality. “Bubba” is a nickname commonly used in the south to address a brother. As a company that treats its guests and employees like family, the name Bubba has stuck around.

The 33 in the name is more than a number. It’s an attitude and a way of life, according to the company's website. You see, 1933 marked the end of Prohibition and signaled great times ahead.

A little check of their menu shows just how eclectic their food selection is and offers something for everyone. The "Nacho Mama" pizza has a blend of fresh ground beef with 33 percent bacon grind and refried beans topped with seasoned chicken, cheddar cheese, fresh jalapenos and a zesty sour cream sauce. And the "Bubba's Signature Ribeye" is a 14 ounce espresso marinated rib eye steak.

I had a chance to talk to the owners and they gave me some insight into the Bubba's 33 restaurant.

"This restaurant is part of the Texas Roadhouse family and we see it as a compliment to the already expanding dining options in Texarkana. Bubba's 33 will offer folks in the area with a great place to see their favorite sports team as well as offering a family-friendly atmosphere with a casual attitude," Taylor said.

The restaurant is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017.
