50 Cent Will Have a Comedy Variety Show on A&E
Despite his social media wars and his bankruptcy woes, we all know 50 Cent means business. He’s been flexing his acting chops for years now and on the heel of the fourth season of his hit series Power on Starz, Fif is announcing plans to take over yet another network. The G-Unit boss is slated to star in his own variety series 50 Cent Presents, which will be aired on A&E TV.
According to reports the new show will be a showcase series, “which takes In Living Color a step further.” The show was developed by 50, who will also star in and executively produce the series. His plan is to combine sketch comedy, stand-up, reality TV experiments, dance and music in one show. Sounds pretty innovative and outside txxl the box for the gangsta rapper.
But clearly there is a method to his madness. ”I grew up watching variety shows and am excited to put my own spin on the format," Fif told The Hollywood Reporter. "I hope everyone is ready to bring their talent forward, I want to show the world the best of the best.”
His latest on-screen endeavor will be produced by Back Roads Entertainment in addition to 50 Cent's G-Unit Film & Television's Stephen J. Savva, who will also serve as executive producer to the show.
A&E is pretty stoked about the collaboration. "Leaning into A&E's legacy in showcasing the arts, we're setting out to redefine the traditional variety show," Frontain Bryant, head of A&E programming, said. "50 Cent is the perfect partner to refresh this classic format. He is a true tastemaker across industries and we are excited to see his impressive showcase of talent."
We haven't heard a huge announcement from 50 Cent yet, but we are sure he will start the marketing as soon as it's closer to show time.
