The rodeo at the 72nd Four States Fair and Rodeo kicked off on Wednesday night with PRCA Xtreme Bull Riding. It was a night all about bulling riding, with one after the other. This was just one of many new twists added to this year's Fair fun.

Bull Riding is always exciting to watch and usually the event that we all wait for at the end of the rodeo.

I'd love to see this event come back again next year. The stands were full of fans ready to see the action and for a Wednesday night, the first night of rodeo action at the Fair, that is a big deal.

One of the cowboys got his foot hung up in the rigging and was about to get into some real trouble when some bullfighters jumped in to help keep the bull off of the rider long enough for him to get untangled.

Rodeo action from last year:

Want to learn more about bull riding and rodeos? Here are some terms that you may have heard but didn't know what they meant. I found the Rodeo Terminology website and found it very helpful to understanding the terms used by the announcer.

Bullfighter  - The guys who protect the riders once they are off the bull by getting the bull's attention and heading it toward the gate to exit the arena. They often wear lots of colors to get the attention of the bulls.
Flankman -  You'll notice in the first video above there is a man holding onto the strap around the bull as the chute is opened. That person knows the animal well and adjusts the flank strap around the animal before the ride just right into order to give each animal the proper pressure to get the best bucking.
Try - Means determination and toughness (E.g., “Give that cowboy a hand – he had a lot of try”).
Roughstock - The horses and bulls used in the rodeo event.
Drop -  The way a the roughstock lowers its front end suddenly during the bucking action.
Average - Used to combine scores, (E.g., “He had times of 9.3 and 9.8 seconds in the two rounds and placed third in the average with 19.1 seconds on two head”).
