What exactly does it take to make a great dad?

A man swam five hours off the coast of Maryland to save his family after their boat capsized in a storm Tuesday night. I'd say that a heroic action like that makes him a pretty great dad.

But besides saving your family during a tragic time, what else can you do to be considered a great dad?

When I answer this question my answer will always be the same, quality time. Fortunately for me, my dad is able to spend a lot of time with me and I think that is what makes our relationship so strong. He has been able to take me to a lot of awesome places and provide for my family, but the most important thing is quality time.

He has never missed a never-ending dance recital or pep rally where I danced in a song that lasted three minutes. And has also sat through every sporting event imaginable until I finally gave up the dream of being athletic. It's the little things. It's always a great feeling when you see someone you love cheering you on in the stands.

I think that the dad in this video below is an incredible dad. Watch the video below on why he falls asleep every night in front of the TV. (and grab some tissues, you might need them.)

In your opinion, what does it take to make a great dad?
