Texas A&M in Texarkana needs your help today. It is East Texas giving day and here is their statement on how the coronavirus has effected their fundraising this year.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent social distancing requirements by state and local officials, Texas A&M University-Texarkana has canceled all events, including fundraising efforts that provide vital scholarships for TAMUT students.

Many of their students have lost their jobs. Many of their parents have lost their jobs. They have heard from students who are concerned that they will not be able to continue their education after this semester. Now, more than ever, they need your help.

TAMUT has partnered with the East Texas Communities Foundation and will be participating, for the first time, in East Texas Giving Day today. East Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online event that provides critical funding for area organizations. This year there is an extra incentive to raise funds through the ETGD initiative; the university has a $20,000 match for funds raised for ETGD from an anonymous donor.

All proceeds raised for TAMUT will go directly to the Foundation Board’s Endowed Scholarship Fund and will then be matched dollar for dollar by the board. If the university can raise $20,000 through East Texas Giving Day it will result in a total contribution of $80,000 for scholarships.

When the students succeed, the entire community succeeds. Please join Texas A&M Texarkana in helping to meet the scholarship needs of their students.
