The Texarkana, Texas Police Department arrested 21-year-old, Lance Rajohn Brewer after he allegedly fought with police when a traffic stop turned violent. One officer was treated and released from Wadley Regional Medical Center after the incident.

Texarkana, Texas Police Officer Dustin Thompson conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 16th and Main Streets. The vehicle passenger, 21 year old black male, Lance Rajohn Brewer, provided the officer with conflicting identifying information about his identity.

 

Officer Billy Giddens responded to assist Officer Thompson.

The officers had Brewer exit the vehicle in order to detain him for further investigation. Once he had exited the vehicle, Brewer attempted to flee on foot at which time a
struggle ensued between Brewer and the officers. The officers were able to subdue Brewer and take him into custody following a brief physical altercation.

 

Following Brewer’s arrest, officers discovered a handgun magazine in Brewer’s possession and a 9mm handgun concealed in the vehicle. Brewer was transported to Bi-State Criminal Justice Center Jail where he was charged

with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice, Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm as a Convicted Felon in addition
to outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear for a previous Evading Arrest or Detention Charge and Probation Violation for a Family Violence Assault.

 

The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Ashley Joann Venable, was also arrested and charged with Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

 

Officer Giddens was treated and released at Wadley Hospital for a minor injury that he received during the struggle with Brewer.
