Pro-Pet LLC of St. Mary's, Ohio has initiated a recall on select brands of its dog and cat food for possible Salmonella contamination,

Among those being recalled are the 40 lb bag of Hubbard Life Happy Hound Dog Food, 40 lb bag of Hubbard Life Maintenance Dog Food,  and the 18 lb of Hubbard Life Cat Stars Cat Food. These each have a best buy date of May 6. Click here for a complete list of recalled products. 

The possible Salmonella contamination was discovered after a "single field test indicated that products manufactured during a two day period, on a single production line may have the potential for Salmonella contamination,"  the Food and Drug Administration states on their website.

The recalled products were distributed through retailers, distributors, and on-line consumer purchases in several states including Texas. Consumers are advised to immediately discontinue use of products  Pro-Pet at 1-888-765-4190  for further information.
