Skier Lindsey Vonn Airlifted to Hospital After Horrific Crash
Lindsey Vonn, the top woman’s alpine skier in the world, has been hospitalized after suffering a scary crash at the World Championships in Schladming, Austria.
The 28-year-old was competing in the super-G when she lost balance after completing a jump. Her right ski came off immediately and she tumbled hard down the mountain, striking a gate. After receiving medical attention for 12 minutes, she was airlifted away by helicopter.
The issue appears to be with her knee. As of now there are no updates on her condition.
Vonn has won four of the last five overall World Cup championships in alpine skiing. She is also one of only six women to have ever won a World Cup race in all five disciplines of the sport.
Beyond the slopes, she has been linked romantically to Tim Tebow and more recently Tiger Woods.
But today we are all keeping our fingers crossed that Vonn can recover from her injuries — and hopefully well before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, which begin next February.
