Have you ever wanted to understand what the clouds in the sky mean? Find out how to read the sky and warn others when storms are coming.

These classes are free and are put on by the National Weather Service conjunction with local government offices. The goal is to help train local storm spotters for the NWS. The more spotters there are, the quicker alerts can go out for others to stay safe.

There are both basic and advanced Skywarn weather classes available to sign up for on February 21, 2017, at the New Boston Community Center, 301 East North Front, New Boston, Texas. Basic class is at 6PM and the advanced class is at 8PM. Local meteorologists will teach the classes.

According to the website for SKYWARN®, it is a volunteer program with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.

You can pre-register for either class or find out more information from the meteorologist teaching the glass, Matthew Duplantis at (318) 631-3669 or send an email.
