We  knew it was coming, but the Texarkana College Board of Trustees made it official yesterday as they voted to end Athletic Programs at the college after this Spring Semester ends.

The move to cut baseball, softball, and golf will save the college a half million dollars annually and mean the loss of coaching jobs . Also the board voted to eliminate the counseling department in the Enrollment Management Division.. Those cuts should save over $178,000 annually as well.

The Texarkana College Foundation Board President Dr. Andrew Curry reported that the foundations pledge of $1 million for the college to use as needed for the current year operating budget is available. Those funds will not be used until the time the chief financial officer of the college recommends to the President James Henry Russell that a need exists.
