News of Marvel’s ABC-IMAX The Inhumans series was quickly followed by curious distinctions that a separate movie might still make it onto the MCU slate. That’s certainly what the sometime-attached Vin Diesel would prefer, as the Guardians of the Galaxy star says he has a mind to talk to Marvel about fixing their plans.

It wasn’t long after ABC announced that The Inhumans would move forward as an eight-part IMAX/ABC hybrid series that Guardians director James Gunn stepped up to clarify that Diesel wasn’t likely to have interest in a small-screen role as Black Bolt. The actor was never officially cast in the role of the mute Inhuman prince, though Diesel certainly had his fun teasing the possibility over social media, especially as a counter to his speaking, but CG presence as Groot.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Diesel put forth that The Inhumans would be better served by film, a point he’d stress to Marvel if given the opportunity:

I think Marvel should never—I don’t think Marvel should abandon their opportunity to make a film out of it. I think it could be a huge, huge saga, and if I had more time I would go over to Marvel and have that very conversation. But I think it would be a big mistake for Marvel to abandon their ambitions or their objective or their goals of making it into a film, because it would make such a cool universe.

Thus far of Marvel’s The Inhumans, we know that Iron Fist alum Scott Buck will showrun the series for Marvel and ABC, which have already set a September IMAX premiere for its first two episodes. Roel Reine has signed on to direct the first two episodes, though no casting has yet taken place, nor has Marvel clarified what, if any relationship The Inhumans will have to other MCU TV series.

We’ll likely hear about Inhumans casting before long, but does Diesel have a point about the property losing out on a movie?
