The Goo Goo Dolls are just one of the many acts who'll be performing on Wednesday night's Christmas in Rockefeller Center special on NBC, which marks the illumination of New York City's famous Christmas tree.  But the guys in the group don't think they'll be able to do much mingling with the other performers....well, at least one of them, anyway.

"I doubt they'll let us in the same room with Mariah Carey," jokes Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik, referring to the fact that the diva is also on the bill. "I'm sure she has her own sort of compound of trailers there.  But, y'know, maybe we'll get to say hi to Kelly Clarkson.  It's so strange: I have no famous friends!"

But the singer will probably be too distracted by the awesome sight of the huge tree to worry about whether or not he'll be hanging with Mariah, Kelly or any of the other performers, who include Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Jewel, Babyface and Ariana Grande.

"New York is the most magic place between Thanksgiving and Christmas, And man, when they light that Christmas tree up, it's incredible."

Christmas in Rockefeller Center airs Wednesday night on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.  You can also catch the Goo Goo Dolls on the Hollywood Christmas Parade, which airs December 11 on the Hallmark Channel.
