Did Taylor Swift Copy One of Her Lyrics from Matt Nathanson?

Taylor Swift is a fan of singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, best known for his hit "Come On Get Higher."  But is she such a fan that she actually took one of his lyrics and used it in one of her songs?

According to sources, a few days ago, fans began noticing the similarity between a lyric in Taylor's song "All Too Well," from her new album Red, and a lyric in Nathanson's song "I Saw," which he wrote in 2003.   The line in Taylor's song is "And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to.”  The line in Nathanson's song is, "And I’ll forget about you long enough to forget why I need to."

It's unclear if this is unconscious plagiarism on Taylor's part, or if she simply meant to pay homage to Nathanson.  After all, earlier this year, she performed with the lyrics of his song "Modern Love" scrawled on her arm.   Nathanson seems to think it's plagiarism.  Gawker has a screen capture of a tweet which they report that he sent but then deleted, in which he wrote, "She's definitely a fan, and now she's a thief."

In addition, on Friday, Nathanson tweeted, "so far, my favorite thing about today is the wave of @taylorswift13 fans calling me a pr**k on twitter for writing 'i saw' in 2003."

So far, Taylor herself has not responded to the criticism.
