Update: We will add the video when Avril officially releases it.

Avril Lavigne certainly gets bold and colorful in the music video for her new single, 'Hello Kitty.' The 'Complicated' singer is essentially having a love affair with Japan in the video, as she is constantly backed up by a squad of crimson-haired Japanese dancers, sings about Hello Kitty and gets super excited as a chef serves her some delicious-looking sushi.

"Let's all slumber party, like a fat kid on a pack of Smarties," sings Lavigne, who rocks an ornate tulle skirt decorated with cupcakes for the majority of the video. "Let's play truth-or-dare now, we can roll around in our underwear, how every silly kitty should be."

The tune, which was co-written with her husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, also boasts this as the chorus: "Come, come, kitty, kitty, you're so pretty, pretty," Lavigne coos as she and her stone-faced backup dancers all do 'The Monkey.' "Don't go kitty, kitty, stay with me."

Already, fans have taken to Twitter to decry the video as racist, particularly calling out Lavigne's Japanese phrases and the stereotypical sushi experience.

One thing is for sure: Lavigne has come a long, long way from the days of her first album, 'Let Go.'
