We're less than a week away from the launch of Marvel's Star Wars line with the first issue of, hey, Star Wars, by Jason Aaron, John Cassaday, and Laura Martin, so Marvel has put out a couple of sneak peaks of the issue -- one lettered, one unlettered. We've helpfully brought them together so you can enjoy more of the story of fan favorite character Overseer Aggadeen and... the cast of Firefly, I think? I don't really know Star Wars; sorry.
Star Wars #1 is an officially in-continuity comic (for now, anyway!) that picks up directly after the end of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, following the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in the wake of the destruction of the Death Star. Finally, a sequel to Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope! I can't believe they've never done that before.
The cunning folks at DC Entertainment snuck an exclusive new image of Ben Affleck's Batman out into the world by hiding it in plain sight at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The DC booth features a montage of Batman images celebrating the Dark Knight's 75th anniversary -- and in among those images is a never-before-seen picture of Batfleck's impressive Bat chin in profile.
We already saw a fuzzy glimpse of Batfleck from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder earlier this year -- and we noticed at the time how very Frank Millery it looks. Earlier today we also gawked at Batfleck's cape and cowl on the convention floor -- and it was but a spectral apparition without a meaty Ben Affleck to fill it.
Agents of SHIELD has had a lot of chances. It's had guest stars and movie tie-ins. It's had extended hiatuses when it could have re-tooled. It's had heavily pushed event episodes that were meant to reinvigorate the show. But for sixteen episodes the show has failed to catch fire. Now, after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the show has one more chance to prove itself.
SPOILER WARNING: This recap not only contains spoilers for tonight's Agents of SHIELD, it also contains spoilers for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. If you haven't seen the movie and you want to remain unspoiled, do not read on.
Last episode: Sif. Two episodes ago: John Garrett. Three episodes ago: Deathlok. Marvel's Agents of SHIELD has embraced the "Marvel" part of its name the past few weeks, but the ABC television series still hasn't been able to match the quality or excitement of Marvel's other live-action productions.
In this week's episode there are no new Marvel faces, but several familiar ones crop up, and perhaps more excitingly we see some welcome advances in the plot. Yes, there's a plot! Buckle in, true believer.
