Can you believe that on this date in 1980 'The Empire Strikes Back' opened in theaters?

I got the chance to see this movie as a 10 year old kid at the Joy Cinema City in Nash. It had been out a while when my dad took me to see the movie. I remember vividly all of the details of how the movie plot unfolded and I was a little scared of what they did to Han Solo. I was a big Han Solo fan and to see him in that shape was pretty bad for my young brain to handle. Now when I see the movie I can appreciate how big the story is and what it now means to me. I am definitely a big fan of the three original movies over the prequels.  It is hard to believe how good the special effects were in this movie given the limited technology.
