2013 MTV Video Music Awards: Best Dressed Rappers & Singers
This year, MTV brought the Video Music Awards to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to give out Moonmen for the best visuals in music over the last year. Of course some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest names showed up to the event making a statement on the red carpet.
Some artists graced the red carpet in their Sunday best and others arrived sporting a more casual look for the affair, but the black-and-white trend remained consistent Sunday night (Aug. 25). From Future to Drake to Ciara, here are the 10 Best Dressed at 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Rapper Future keeps it clean and dapper arriving to the red carpet in all black and grey from head to toe.
Ciara stepped onto the Brooklyn streets in a sheer, cream-colored dress. The embroidery and feathers at the bottom of her gown prove the songstress was taking a fashion risk that turned out right.
The ladies of Danity Kane made their first big red carpet appearance since reuniting, color coordinating in black and white for their look. Plus they each showed off some sexiness while flaunting toned legs.
Robin Thicke & Paula Patton
Robin Thicke and his wife and actress Paula Patton kept the black trend going at the awards ceremony. The singer rocked a black suit and white shirt with the buttons undone. Patton wore a floor-length dress with a split made of shiny material.
Rita Ora rocked all white to the MTV VMAs. Wearing a long shimmery and feathery train, the U.K. singer came to show out on the red carpet.
Rapper Wiz Khalifa dressed down for the occasion, wearing cut-up jeans, a black leather jacket, white tee and red sneakers. Of course he couldn’t forget his gold chain.
Australian femcee Iggy Azalea lit up the red carpet in a gold sheer dress. She slicked her hair back and wore a red lip for a simple, classic finish.
Even though he was in Brooklyn, Kendrick Lamar still repped his hometown of Los Angeles with a black baseball cap adorned with the initials LA. The rhymer rocked a grey shirt, black jeans, green Nikes and a gold chain.
Willow & Jaden Smith
The Smith sibling superstars brought their street cool to the awards ceremony. Willow Smith rocked denim overalls with black wedges and a cropped graphic tee. Jaden Smith wore all black to the affair.
Drake was in full promo mode, rocking a baseball jersey with the title of his forthcoming album, ‘Nothing Was the Same,’ printed on the front. With a fresh cut and black Timberland boots, Drizzy kept things laid-back for the show.
