Fall just touched down, and Walmart is already making plans for the holidays.  Like pretty much every thing in 2020, COVID-19 is shaping what is typically the busiest day of the year for retail -  Black Friday. Walmart's Black Friday will be a lot different this year due to the pandemic.

Instead of only being one day of incredible deals, long lines and enormous crowds, like the traditional Black Friday experience, the retail giant will spread big savings throughout the holiday season. Plus more items will be available online this year to allow customers the pleasure of shopping from home this year.

Scott McCall, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Walmart U.S said in a news release:

“Over the past six months, our customers have been shopping differently, and we expect that will continue into the most important shopping season of the year – the holidays. We’ve heard from our customers that many plan on starting their holiday shopping well before Black Friday and that they’re looking for gifts that fit their current lifestyle. So, we’ve adjusted our strategy to adapt to these new shopping preferences – we’re offering more of what they want now, earlier than ever, and all at the best prices.”

As a result to prepare for Black Friday and the holiday season, Walmart has increased its inventory in electronics (including TVs, laptops and video games), kitchen appliances, toys, and more.

We're still waiting for full details on the 2020 Black Friday experience.... like what the hours will be since they've changed so drastically to allow for sanitation due to COVID. The news release said that hours will be “reduced.” We'll keep you posted, my faithful Black Fridayers!

Oh and if you're the "last-minute errand boy or girl" in your family, you should note that Walmart will be closed Thanksgiving day, unlike other years. Grab your cranberry sauce and pie crusts the day before.
