'Wagons For Veterans' Cookout Coming Up March 11 in Texarkana

This may be one of the tastiest events you have ever attended, if you haven't been to one before, this is the month to come getcha some. Oh, and you better show up hungry.

The Texarkana Area Chapter # 278 of the Vietnam Veterans of America is hosting another "Wagons for Veterans" fundraiser event to help local disabled and needy veterans.

When: Saturday, March 11, 2023

Where: The Four States Fairgrounds

How Much: $15 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under

On the menu: Just about anything you can cook in a cast iron pot over a campfire.

The reason it's called "Wagons for Veterans," is because just about everything on the menu is fixed the old-fashioned way, in cast iron pots and skillets over an open fire, just like they did on the old cattle drives. It's some of the best food you have ever stuffed in your face.

There will also be other things on display according to the Facebook Page, plus live entertainment, and a live auction. This is the 5th year for this event and they have been a huge success so far helping local veterans and their families by raising almost $65,000 so far. Veterans in our area have helped in so many ways including home repair, utility bills, wheelchair ramps, funeral expenses, food boxes for needy veterans coming thru the local VA Clinic, school books, rent, medical aid assistance, hygiene packs & socks for homeless veterans, work clothes & boots, gasoline, burnouts, and donations to the Hero’s Pantry which feeds around 125 veterans and their families on a monthly basis. That's amazing work helping those that have given so much for us.
