The Texas High School morning “tailgate” breakfast kicks-off the week long effort for Red Ribbon Week and is sponsored by the student group Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).

SADD’s mission is to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.  It was founded on the simple philosophy that young people, empowered to help each other, are the most effective force in prevention.  The national organization began as a small-town, grass roots response to the tragedy of two impaired driving crashes and the resulting deaths of two teenage students.  It quickly grew to become a nationwide organization fueled by millions of young people across the country and around the world.
