Texarkana Rotary Announces PG 2021/22 Teachers of the Year

Congratulations to the 2021-2022 Pleasant Grove Independent School District Teachers of the Year.

Samantha Durham - Secondary District Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Samantha Durham - Pleasant Grove ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. Samantha is the Algebra 2 Honors and ISM (Trigonometry Honors/Dual Credit) teacher at Pleasant Grove High School. Mrs. Durham has been employed at Pleasant Grove ISD for six years and served as adjunct faculty for Texas A&M-Texarkana for three years. Mrs. Durham holds both Bachelors and Masters Degrees specializing in mathematics (8-12) from Texas A&M-Texarkana. Her teaching experience and expertise include algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, and calculus.

Mrs. Durham serves as the Math Department Chair, UIL Academic Mathematics coach, and Dual Credit Instructor (in partnership with Texarkana College) at Pleasant Grove HIgh School. Mrs. Durham has been married to her husband, Corey Durham, a professional firefighter, for three years.

“I am truly honored to be recognized and serve the community of Texarkana in this capacity,” Mrs. Durham said.

Jasmine Gill - PG Elementary District Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Jasmine Gill, the PG Elementary District Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Gill is a kindergarten teacher at the Margaret Fischer Davis Elementary School. Mrs. Gill has been in education for fourteen years and with Pleasant Grove ISD for three years, teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten. Prior to teaching at Pleasant Grove ISD, Mrs. Gill taught Kindergarten in Texarkana ISD and grades Kindergarten through Second for El Dorado Public Schools in El Dorado, AR. Mrs. Gill received her BSE in Early Childhood from Henderson State University.

Mrs. Gill is a member of the Northeast Texas Alliance of Black School Educators which is an organization that is committed to personal and professional development; with a compelling spirit to give back to others. Mrs. Gill is married to her husband, Edward Gill. They have three children, Shaun, Kristen, and Daniel that also attend Pleasant Grove ISD.
