When people tell Steven McCormack he's full of hot air, they're not kidding.

The 48-year-old truck driver from New Zealand blew up like a balloon last Saturday after a compressed air hose punctured his rear end, resulting in a massive amount of air hurdling its way into his body.

How did McCormack wind up becoming a real-life un-purple version of Violet from ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?’ He fell while standing on the foot plate of his truck, causing the air hose to detach from the air reservoir that lets his brakes properly function.

McCormack had the misfortune of landing on the hose, which started breathing air into his body at a rate that would leave those doing CPR in awe. He said he remained on the ground "blowing up like a balloon."

A co-worker in the area rushed to his aid and stopped the air. McCormack was taken to the hospital where doctors treated him for swelling and fluid in his lungs. The medics say the air caused the fat to split from the muscle in his body and he’s lucky none of it wound up in his bloodstream. On the plus side, at least no one can give him flak when he says he's been to helium and back.
