When Lady Gaga and Katy Perry receive award nominations, it's usually for their music, but this time they, and a few other top pop stars, have received nods for their, shall we say, "out of this world" appearance.

Gaga and Katy, along with Ke$ha and Redfoo from LMFAO, are all up for the first annual 2012 Fright Night Awards, sponsored by an organization called Cancer Bites.  It's a national blood cancer awareness and education campaign that's launching on Halloween.  The Fright Night Awards invite fans to vote for their favorite "frights" in 21 different categories, including music, movies, TV and more.

The singers are nominated in the categories "Favorite Male and Female Celebrity Who Dresses for Halloween Every Day."  Katy, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj are all nominated in the female category, along with Jersey Shore star Snooki.  As for Redfoo, he's in the male category, going up against the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, skater Johnny Weir, and Marilyn Manson.

Katy is also nominated in the category of Favorite Celebrity in Costume 2011, for her Halloween costume last year: she dressed as a skeleton.  Beyonce's also nominated in that category for her 2011 outfit, a bumblebee.

In addition, Korean rapper Psy of "Gangnam Style" fame is nominated in the category of "Favorite Male Halloween Costume for 2012," alongside Big Bird, Mitt Romney, Barack Obama and 50 Shades of Grey main character Christian Grey.

The virtual awards show will be held online, and the winners will be announced October 30.  Fans can vote for their favorites at FrightNightAwards.com.
