Katy Perry’s New Album Is “A Little Bit More Grown-Up,” Says Collaborator
A great number of Katy Perry's biggest hits were co-written with the same woman,Bonnie McKee, who's now launching a career as an artist in her own right. Bonnie's working on Katy's new album as well, and she say's that it'll definitely be a change from Katy's last disc, Teenage Dream.
"I think it's a little bit more grown-up and it's really interesting," Bonnie says of Katy's new album. "I'm really excited for the world to hear it because she's just...she's taking a new approach. And I don't want to say too much about it, but it's definitely different. It's definitely a little more mature than the 'California Gurls' of yesterday."
Of course, since Teenage Dream, Katy's been married and divorced and has been involved in an on-and-off relationship with John Mayer, who she has said she's "madly in love with," so she probably has a lot to sing about.
Together, Katy and Bonnie co-wrote "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "Part of Me." Noting that she and Katy met years ago at a thrift store in L.A., Bonnie says, "She and I are really similar...We just are totally on the same level...We're just soul mates in that way, I guess."
