The jonquils are already in full bloom in Texarkana and it is still February. Normally they bloom in early spring. They are a nice flower to see as we transition from gloomy winter to delightful spring although our winter months were not so cold.

Kick off the spring time fun during this historic festival. As you make your way into Washington, Ark., you'll see hundreds of beautiful jonquils along the way. Walk around the park and visit the craft booths. Enjoy the various entertainers that will be performing around the festival in Historic Washington. My family always discovers unique crafts and delicious foods at the event. Some vendors have become old friends as they come back every year. Make sure to take time to walk through the historic buildings and learn about the town's heritage. The festival runs from 9AM to 5PM on Friday and Saturday, then again from 9AM to 4PM on Sunday. Tours of the park, historic homes and museums are available at regular price. Call the park at 870-983-2684 for details. Admission to the festival is free. Parking is $5.

It is amazing that this festival will celebrate a half of a century next year. It was a tradition for my family to attend when my mom was still alive. Start your own tradition in March. For more information visit Arkansas online.
