El Paso Rock History Is Hiding in Guitar Hero’s Successor

Earlier this year it was announced that a new video game called "Stage Tour", will be released on console on December 10, 2026. If it looks very reminiscent to the Guitar Hero games, well...it SHOULD. Red Octane, the company that CREATED the Guitar Hero series, is responsible for creating this new series. In addition to the many songs announced for the game, some Texas musicians WILL be represented in the game including a song made famous by an old El Paso band.

Stage Tour will feature one of the most famous bands from Texas on the game

As it was revealed on Stage Tour's official Instagram page, a total of 45 songs have been confirmed to appear on the game. Near the end of that list is "That Little Ol' Band from Texas", the one & only ZZ Top out of Houston.

This will be at least the 3rd time "Sharp Dressed Man" will appear in a Guitar Hero related game; the song was also featured in the very first Guitar Hero game as well as Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (although the Live in Texas version was used in that game).

The other unique feature is "I Fought the Law" by The Clash. The Clash weren't formed in Texas, but the artists who made the song WERE. Originally written by Buddy Holly & The Crickets, the song was made popular by the Bobby Fuller Four who were formed in El Paso, Texas in 1962. So yes...in a way we get to experience a piece of El Paso's music history.

This is NOT the complete soundtrack so there's still time for even more bands from Texas to appear in the game. Some of MY personal picks would be:

• "Walk" by Pantera (although any song by them would work in my opinion)
• "Jenny" by Nothing More
• "Frankenstein" or "Free Ride" by Edgar Winter
• "Pepper" by Butthole Surfers
• "Possum Kingdom" by Toadies
• "Big Red Rocket of Love" by The Reverend Horton Heat
• and to REALLY have more connections to El Paso, I'd love to see "One Armed Scissor" by At the Drive-In, "The Widow" or "Wax Simulacra" by The Mars Volta, or "Cut Your Ribbon" by Sparta. Any one (or more) of these songs would be amazing.

Those are just MY picks of course. If they have some Rush & Queen on the soundtrack, or maybe some Stevie Ray Vaughan I'd be just fine with that. That being said, I need to brush up on my Guitar Hero playing skills & prepare myself.
