Anyone that lives in our area has heard all about Bigfoot. You know the tall hairy creature that wanders through the woods. We even have a Fouke Monster legend. Did you know there have been over 100 sightings of Bigfoot in Arkansas?

As a kid growing up we all heard about bigfoot or sasquatches roaming the woods and only being heard and not seen too often. The Fouke Monster was also part of the lore of monsters growing up. The Fouke Monster was depicted as being redder in color.

There is a website that actually tracks Bigfoot sightings all over the world. Did you know that there have been 109 Bigfoot sightings in Arkansas? Here is where it gets interesting, there have been 9 different sightings in Miller County alone.

September 13, 2012, County Road 10 near highway 237.

She stated the animal was a "good eight feet tall", with very long, and muscular legs. The witness said the movement of the animal was smooth and without much movement of the arms.

February 2001 5 miles west of Fouke

He stated: I pulled into a dirt drive in front of a hunting lease to turn around and suddenly I heard a Howling sound like I never heard before.

February 2000, Blackmon Ferry Road

He stated he was coon hunting and heard a large creature coming toward him in the swampy area near Thornton Wells. He did state that he saw a large footprint with only 4 toes.

January 2000 Near Fouke

The person stated: I observed a hairy manlike creature approximately 8 feet tall walking away from me. It had sticks and leaves matted in its thick reddish-brown hair. the wind was blowing my way and I smelt a very distinct musky smell.

November 1996 Highway 71 near Fouke

A truck driver had this to say about his encounter:

Whatever I saw looked like a dead tree trunk at first if it hadn't moved I might have gone right by it and thought that's all it was it was dark-colored and nothing but the eyes shining red got picked out by the headlights.
