Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers are something of a contradiction, in that very little need be preserved of George R.R. Martin’s unpublished books, yet the series now has its own story to protect. And protect it will, as star Nathalie Emmanuel reveals the elaborate lengths through which cast were asked to protect Season 7 scripts.

Speaking with Express UK, the Game of Thrones and Furious 7 star revealed that all cast were required to add additional security measures to their email accounts before even reading scripts, to say nothing of security on-set.

They’ve definitely tightened up who has scripts and how we’re given them. You have to look at it digitally … They won’t send it to us unless our emails have a two-step verification [security process]. You might get given rehearsal notes on set, but you have to sign for and return them before you leave. If you don’t, people will chase you until you give them back!

Game of Thrones has gotten good enough at security that even Stranger Things consulted producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss for tips on keeping Season 2 under wraps. Then again, Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has teased that a great number of Season 7 spoilers are already out there, if lost among the deluge of speculation, while certain stars like Ian McShane or Jim Broadbent have no problem divulging details when asked.

We’ll see how Game of Thrones Season 7 manages to surprise us when it premieres on July 16, so stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
