Texas Middle School has a brand new sixth grade school. That's right, an entire school building was built just for the sixth grade. The drop off this morning was a bit challenging since it is a new routine for everyone, including the school administrators. It took between 20 and 25 minutes from the time we got in line to the time we were back in regular traffic.

My stepson, Ethan, was pretty excited about his first day. I was nervous. I offered to switch places for the week to get him started but then I realized that one week of him trying to do my job would leave me jobless.

Summerhill Road is no place you want to be in the morning between 7-8AM or probably starting at 2:50-3:50PM unless you are dropping off or picking up kids. The high school is in that same block, as well as other grades. It's like a maze of schools stretching a city block.

The easiest way to access the drop off for sixth graders is to head south on Summerhill Road because the folks coming from the north are going against traffic and there are no cross-guards to stop cars and let you into the line. The turn in for drop off is next to Patterson's Camera. The lane winds around to the new school building and comes out on Kennedy Lane where you can only turn right to go with the traffic flow.

Plan plenty of time for drop off and pick up.
