ABC's The Bachelor first aired in 2002 and since then it has spawned several other shows: After The Final Rose, The Bachelorette, and The Bachelor Pad. Season 15 is underway loaded with all the drama, back-stabbing and hard bodies you expect.  If you are a fan, you may have a few questions.  Below are some of my questions, with a few answers too.  Do you know the answers?  Do you have questions?  Post them here and let's see if we can get answers together.

Q: Where do they get all of those beautiful, or not so flattering, dresses?

A: The women must provide their own clothing. In the first couple of seasons the ladies were treated to a single wardrobe selection of a special dress but no more.  As the competition among the women has grown, the wardrobe budget for the show has shrank.   Some women have spent big money to make sure they catch the eye of the bachelor and the cameras.

Q: How in the world does the bachelor keep up with all of the names of the women he gives roses to at the end of the first night?

A: After the Bachelor chooses his ladies, a producer pulls him away from the party and gives him a list of the names in a certain order. The Bachelor (or Bachelorette) leaves after every 3 or 4 names are called to review the list again--obviously this is edited out.

Q:  How long does the party last the first night?

A:  Have you ever noticed how "tired" some of the women look.  Makes me wonder if the rose ceremony is held during the wee hours of the morning.  I have not found the answer to this question yet.

Q:  Where is the place they have the party and do most of the filming?

A:  Most of the show takes place in Agoura Hills located in sunny California, otherwise how could they always be running around in bikinis. The women live in the home called "Villa De La Vina," which is 7,590 square-foot.  It has 6 bedrooms and 9 baths. This is a custom built home that was constructed in 2005.  I'm not sure who it was custom built for though.  The home is located on 10 acres and at one point was on the market for a mere $8.75 million.  Other features in the house: hand-carved stone fireplaces, imported fountains, a state-of-the-art kitchen, electronic skylights, a separate, 4,000-square-foot accessory building, a solar-heated saltwater swimming pool, a swim-up BBQ/bar, arched spillways and 2 spas.

In doing all of this research I have found several other tidbits about the shows as well as some of the contestants.  For instance, after the Bachelor Pad aired, I have wondered if Tenley and Kiptyn were dating.  The answer is yes--at least they were when I posted this blog.

Who is the NASCAR driver Emily was involved with? She was engaged to NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series driver Ricky Hendrick. He died in a plane crash in 2004 on the way to a race in Virginia.
