Faith Hill Rocks a Metal Mouth to the 2013 Grammys [PHOTO]

If, like us, you were confused why Faith Hill's mouth looked somewhat off during the 2013 Grammys telecast, you now have an answer.

She was rocking braces. At 45.

Ouch.

The country stunner isn't the first adult celeb to wear braces on a red carpet -- Tom Cruise and Gwen Stefani have all done it, too.

Hill, who has kids around the age that would normally sport a metal mouth (her daughters are 15, 14 and 11), apparently didn't listen to her orthodontist once she got her gear off as a teen.

"I had braces as a kid. I forgot to wear my retainer," she joked to radio station KNIX (via Us Weekly).

"Kids, wear your retainer!"

As a result, Hill's teeth started to shift and space out the way they did before the orthodontia had perfected them, nullifying a lot of the hard work her docs put in.

(And a lot of time spent away from caramel, gum and popcorn ... and time in pain from tightenings, rubber bands and oh God woman, you have to go through this again?)
