Worth the Trip to See Arkansas’ Spectacular Tallest Waterfall
Only 6 days until Spring officially begins! I love the spring season, trees budding, flowers blooming, and the sound of waterfalls. Did you know the state of Arkansas is known to have more than 200 scenic cascading waterfalls? But do you know what waterfall in Arkansas is the tallest?
Hemmed-In-Hollow-Falls is the tallest waterfall between the Rockies and the Appalachians located in the Buffalo River National Forest.
The Height
The height of the falls is 209 feet and is surrounded by the canyon bluffs.
The magnitude of the waterfall is determined by what season it is and how much rain the state has received. Normally, spring is the best time for viewing the waterfall.
Hiking Trails
There are three different hiking trails that will lead you to the falls but be prepared because the hike is very steep and difficult. The quickest way to get to Hemmed-In-Hollow-Falls is a float trip on the Buffalo River through the river trailhead and then a 3-mile hike from Kyle's Landing. You can also reach the falls by horseback too!
While you're in the area it's worth hiking to Sneeds Creek and seeing a historic log cabin named Granny Henderson.
There is plenty of nearby lodging and activities to do in the area.
