We are all carrying around hand sanitizer these days. I use my sleeve to open doors. Even my stepson uses his elbow to touch the elevator buttons now and he uses his sleeve to touch door knobs. I'm so proud of him for that! It's all about staying healthy and preventing illness. What are the odd ways people use to keep the germs away?

Check out three things that germaphobes do that aren't that crazy, according to Yahoo.  In fact, they're things that everyone should probably do:

1.  Hold your breath when someone sneezes -- especially if they're sick -- because right after they sneeze there are tiny droplets of sickness floating around. So you should actually hold your breath for three to four seconds until the droplets fall to the floor. I did this same trick just last week when I was in Walmart. Someone sneezed as I walked by and and quit breathing.

2.  Wash your hands after you pump gas. According to a recent study, gas pumps are the most germ-filled things people touch on their way to work. I go one better and I wear a glove so I never touch the gas pump handle.

3.  Use a paper towel to open a public restroom door -- or, when you have to touch pretty much anything in a public bathroom. Oh heck ya! Who doesn't? What I hate are those bathrooms that only have hand dryers. I wind up waiting until someone else opens the door. LOL

If you really want to do it right, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after you're done and then use a paper towel to turn off the faucet and to push the door open when you leave.
