These Photos Show How Much Texarkana Has Grown in 14 Years
Texarkana is growing. Sometimes it might be hard to see it or we are so busy that we don't notice the changes. Yes, we see some things like new businesses opening, but a picture really is worth a thousand words, These 12 photos show some big changes in Texarkana over the last 14 years.
1. Galleria Oaks off Summerhill Road
Here's Galleria Oaks back in 2007. A few office buildings were starting to pop up.
Fast forward to 2020. It's full of nice office buildings for medical practices
2. Gibson Lane, Can you say Round About?
This photo was taken in 2015 of Gibson Lane. Do you remember the old barn at the intersection?
This area changed a lot in just a few years. In 2019 we got the 'Round About'
3. The Interstate: 1-30
This picture is of I-30 taken in 2007. Look, no big bridges or overpasses.
Then by 2014, we are starting to look like a big city with these bridges and overpasses connecting 1-30 to Loop 151.
4. Jefferson Avenue at the Arkansas Middle School
Talk about another big change. I love this look back in 2018. It's the future site of the Arkansas Middle School. But, the only thing there was a partial road or more like a driveaway.
And now, in 2021. Need I say more?
5. More Changes Are Happening Before Our Very Eyes
And Will be Ready Soon...
The Courthouse/Post Office downtown. Have you seen it lately? It's almost ready! Here is a before photo and a look at the projected finished project.
6. The Grim Hotel Changing into The Lofts at the Grim
This one has been a long time coming but it's really all most done. From a sad vacant building that was all boarded up.
To this projected view of what it will be like in a few short months.
Where have you noticed a big change around town?
