The Blind Cavefish has been renamed the Ozark Blind Cavefish because of its almost translucent body that lives deep underwater and is totally blind, the pinkish-white fish has no eyes at all. In fact, if you do see some eyes they may be very faint and they will fall out once the fish gets older. Blind Cavefish usually live up to 10 years at the most. Maybe they just should have named it the Ghostfish due to its almost see-thru body that floats about in the water.

They instead use sensory organs to detect movement in order to search for food. The cavefish is normally around 2 to 1/4 inches long and can be found in caves, underground sinkholes, and springs in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. These fish tend to feed off crayfish, salamander, bat guano, plankton, isopods, and amphipods.

The Blind Cavefish are known to be underwater predators in the darkness. According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Missouri Department of Conservation believes spring floods bring about their mating season.
