The Texas High Tigers have a wealth of experience heading into the second year under Head Football Coach Gerry Stanford.

Of the 55 varsity players, 36 are Seniors, 11 Juniors, and 8 Sophomores. The starting unit returns 6 on offense and 3 on defense. Coach Stanford says having a full year under their belt means more retention second time around so they can get more into the details of the scheme.

Stanford says the Tigers have 3 players with experience back on the offensive line. He believes they have their most depth at the skilled positions. The team is returning its Quarterback, both running backs, and three wide receivers.

Starting Quarterback Coltin Clack will be spelled by Kendall Reid.

On the defensive side of the ball, Stanford says the Tigers should be fast and explosive on the line. He describes the linebacking corps as youthful, and the secondary as very experienced.

On Special teams, Stanford says the punting and placekicking chores have yet to be determined.

Stanford says their non-conference schedule is tough and will hopefully get the team ready for conference play. The Tigers are going into a new district this year and the coach believes the opponents of the his team will be talented and deep.

As for expectations and what it will take for the Tigers to make a deep run in the playoffs this year, Coach Stanford says," Stay healthy and compete at a high level."

Look for these Tigers to get off to a faster start than last year and don't be surprised if they are playing into December.

GO TIGERS!!!
