This year has been tough with COVID -19. As we start thinking about the holiday season just around the corner a Texarkana Christmas tradition has been canceled. The 2020 Nutcracker Ballet.

Texarkana Community Ballet posted on their Facebook page that they had to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 production as they prioritize the health and well-being of its dancers, teachers, patrons, and the community.

While we are deeply saddened that the company’s artistry will not be seen on the stage this Christmas season, the current problems and regulations associated with Covid-19 have left us with no other choice.

The health guidelines and recommendations mean they can not have auditions in the traditional way or even rehearse.  Not to mention the seating arrangements for the audience. They went on to post their gratitude to their supporters:

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we monitor the area’s ever-changing health issues. We are grateful for your dedication to Texarkana Community Ballet and to our incredible dancers, our beautiful repertory, and our commitment to dance education.

We all have to remember that this is not a permanent situation and that when the Nutcracker comes around again, it will make the Christmas tradition of watching it at the historic Parot Theater even sweeter.
