There has been some confusion on the Shelter at Home orders. Yesterday, the Shelter-at-Home order in Bowie County and Cass County expired at 11:59 last night April 30. But, this past Monday Texas Gov. Abbott did pretty much order or shall I say "encourage" Texans to minimize gatherings and contact with others. Well, that still kinda still means to stay home without saying Stay Home.

The Texarkana Texas Police posted on their Facebook page that the Governor's newest order (Executive Order GA-18) has similar stay home/work home language as previous orders.

You can find it on page 3 of his Executive Order GA-18

(Gov. Abbott's) latest order that was issued this week (Executive Order GA-18) states:

“In accordance with guidance from DSHS Commissioner Dr. Hellerstedt, and to achieve the goals established by the President to reduce the spread of COVD-19, every person in Texas shall, except where necessary to provide or obtain essential services or reopened services, minimize social gatherings and minimize in-person contact with people who are not in the same household. People over the age of 65, however, are strongly encouraged to stay at home as much as possible; to maintain an appropriate distance from any member of the household who has been out of the residence in the previous 14 days; and, if leaving the home, to implement social distancing and to practice good hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and sanitation.”

Just use some common sense. Yes, you can go out but don't gather with a ton of friends. Continue to practice social distancing and yes, if you can stay home.

The city-wide curfew for adults was canceled yesterday as well by Texarkana, Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman.

But remember! The curfew for minors is still in effect!

Today we also can enjoy the fact that the state of Texas is opening up with restaurants and retail stores at 25% capacity. Check with the restaurant on their Facebook page or give them a call to make sure they have decided to open today because some have decided to stay with just drive-thru pick up.
