TAPD Participating in Mobilization Enforcement Ahead of 4/20

Texarkana Arkansas Police want to remind you that if you feel different you drive different. In a couple of days, it will be April 20th or as some people like to say it's 4/20.

As most people know that day has become a day known for marijuana use and some will celebrate it as a marijuana “holiday.”  Even though medical marijuana is legal in the state of Arkansas it is not legal to drive under the influence of it. The Texarkana Arkansas Police along with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are making sure that people are aware that drug-impaired driving of any kind is dangerous and illegal.

There will be a mobilization enforcement that will run from today April 18, 2022 through April 20, 2022. Please remember: If You Feel Different, You Drive Different.

Drug-impaired driving is just as illegal as drunk driving and that is not just for Arkansas but all across the nation.

Did you know, according to NHTSA in a press release from the TAPD, that between the years of 2009 and 2018:

of those drivers killed in crashes and tested for marijuana, the presence of marijuana had nearly doubled. In 2018, 46% of drivers who were killed in crashes and were tested for drugs, tested positive.

Take precautions to get home safely, with the first thing being Do Not Drive yourself. Never drive with someone else that is impaired. These days with Uber, it is easier than ever before to get a safe ride home. If you do see an impaired driver on the road, please call 911.
