Ruby is a beautiful brindle pup that looks to be mixed with some sort of smaller breed, possible terrier. When she first came into the shelter she was very skinny and shy. Now she is playful and loves to give hugs and kisses. She doesn't always come up to the front of the kennel and in dim light, you may miss that she is even in the kennel!

Sugar is a beautiful male Akita that is at our local animal shelter. He has a strong personality and may not be suitable for a home with small children. Sugar got along great with all of the small dogs that were in the exercise area. He carries himself in a way that lets you know he is the boss.

Zeus is a nine month old Shepherd mix that is already neutered, house trained, great on a leash, great with kids, loves other dogs and gets along with cats too! He is gorgeous with light brown, long hair and a black outline around his sweet eyes.

This sweet, very young heeler is at the animal shelter in Texarkana. She was very scared when we were inside the shelter but once she got into the exercise area she really loosened up and started enjoying herself.

Odie is a gorgeous Catahoula dog. He has an even temperament. He is known as the "lazy dog" at the shelter but trust me, this boy has enough energy to do whatever you have in mind for the day. He is just pretty laid back the rest of the time.

Ethan is a very sweet and smart puppy. He is going to be a large dog. His eyes are stunning and his personality is fantastic. He walks great on a leash. I was amazed at how easy it was to get him out of his kennel.

Today's featured pet is an adorable, sweet puppy. He came into the shelter a week or so ago and was spunky but now he is not. It could be for many different reasons, some being very simple to fix and others may require more expense and recovery time. The shelter does not have the funds to take dogs to the vet so he will need to be rescued to be saved.

Matron came to the shelter with babies, adorable babies. Those little ones have since been adopted but momma dog Matron is still waiting for her ticket to freedom.

This adorable orange kitty caught my eye and I just had to take him out of the cage to get to know him better and oh my goodness, he was so much fun. This young boy is playful and so full of personality that it was addicting to continue to play with him.

Swiss is an adult corgi mix. She is a great dog to walk on a leash and could get you out of the house and on the road to fitness with daily walks. Swiss isn't much for playing games but she is a great companion.

This week we are really hoping to help Ashley find a new home. She is a one and a half year old Black Lab/Retriever that is possibly the sweetest lab at the shelter. She is a happy-go-lucky Lab with a fun-loving disposition and a fun water-splashing dog! She will make a great family pet or companion for a single person.
