Adopt a dog this Saturday at Old Navy in Texarkana. The Pet Adoption Event starts at 11  a.m. and goes until about 4 p.m. Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Red Heeler Mix's, Australian Shepard mix's, several other mix breeds, large and small will be looking for homes.

If you are looking to adopt a pet, be sure to stop by Petsmart on Saturday. Muttley Crew Rescue will have German Shepherds available for adoption. There will also be several other dog rescues at this event with a variety of dogs to adopt.

Many animals are now in need of food, boarding, vet care and new homes after a woman with a terminal illness surrendered them to a local rescue.

Bake a cake for the sale or come and buy a cake. The bake sale is Saturday, September 8, beginning at 8 a.m. at the corner of Pecos and Brazos in Texarkana, Texas. All proceeds will benefit the dog rescues participating in the event.

Sox is 2 years old, 45 pounds and believed to be a Beagle-Sheppard mix. Sox loves other dogs, toys, walks and being loved. He is crate and potty trained. Sox is neutered, update-to-date on vaccinations, has a micro chip and is on monthly heartworm prevention with flea control. Sox is at Jeff Tarpley Rescue.
