American Idol moving to ABC is bound to leave FOX a little green, and they might even spend a little in retaliation. FOX is apparently working on a brand-new singing competition to rival Idol and The Voice with a unique format.

Now that Upfronts 2015 have entered the scheduling phase, we thought most of the major renewals, cancellations and pickups had delivered their biggest surprises. Not so apparently, as FOX has decided to put American Idol out to pasture after 15 seasons, ending the reality singing competition for good next year.
According to sources at E! News, long-standing singing competition ‘American Idol’ will no longer be airing twice a week. Instead, the show will have both the performances and results airing in only one weekly episode.
