‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Directors Include ‘Finding Dory’ Alum, More
It wasn’t long ago we learned that Stranger Things creators the Duffer brothers had called on producer Shawn Levy to fulfill a similar directorial obligation as the first year, though the full roster remained unclear. Now, we’ve learned Finding Dory and Nemo director Andrew Stanton will direct several episodes, as will another newcomer to the series.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed the full roster of directors for Stranger Things Season 2, including the Duffers themselves, Levy, Stanton and Electrick Children helmer Rebecca Thomas. Per the report, the Duffers will direct the first, second, eighth and ninth episodes of Season 2 (whose titles are subject to change), while Levy will helm episodes 3 and 4, leaving 5 and 6 to Stanton, and 7 to Thomas.
As you might have guessed, the full roster leaves no room for M. Night Shyamalan, who previously expressed interest in directing a Stranger Things episode to reunite with Wayward Pines alum the Duffers.
Elsewhere of Stranger Things Season 2, we know shooting will take place in Atlanta through April for a Halloween premiere. The story will pick up in the fall of 1984, while creators Matt and Ross Duffer have teased a James Cameron sequel influence in crafting the second chapter. We’ll also learn more about the Demogorgon and Upside Down, as teased in our exclusive concept art piece, while Sadie Sink and Power Rangers star Dacre Montgomery have been added to the cast in regular roles, along with Brett Gelman, Goonies alum Sean Astin, Aliens baddie Paul Reiser, and actress Linnea Berthelsen.
We’ll learn more of Stranger Things Season 2 in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for additional details, and check out the teaser again below.
