This year, a group of musicians who worked with David Bowie are honoring his life with a series of tribute concerts around the world. One of the shows will take place at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on Jan. 24, and will be headlined by Sting.

In what promises to be "Bowie people playing Bowie music Bowie style," the band will be led by pianist Mike Garson and guitarists Adrian Belew and Earl Slick. Mark Plati, Gerry Leonard, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sterling Campbell, Zachary Alford, Holly Palmer and Cat Russell. A second show is planned for the next night, albeit without Sting but featuring Angelo Moore of Fishbone and Rolling Stones backing vocalist Bernard Fowler. You can purchase tickets now, with prices ranging from $75-175 for the first night and $65-150 for the second. Proceeds will benefit local charities. You can get full information at the Wiltern's website.

The Wiltern shows are the third in the series, with the first to take place tomorrow (Jan. 8, which would have been Bowie's 70th birthday) in London and the second being held at New York's Terminal 5 two days later, the first anniversary of his death. Concerts are also planned for the Sydney Opera House (Jan. 29-30) and the Tokyo Dome City Hall (Feb. 2).

The concert will also serve as somewhat of a warmup for Sting. He begins a world tour in support of his most recent record, 57th & 9th, in Vancouver on Feb. 1. It will wrap up with two shows in Paris on April 12-13.
