By now most of you know Texarkana made national news last week when a rainstorm dropped fish out of the sky but it could have been worse, it could have been spiders. And yes, this does creep me out.

According to the Farmer's Almanac website, it happened in 2012 and 2015 in Australia. People living there thought it was snowing outside only to realize it was the silk webs along with a massive amount of spiders falling to the ground.

Wolf spiders are members of the family Lycosidae in web

The rare phenomenon is known as ballooning when spiders want to migrate to a different location with a better environment. The spiders crawl up into the tallest trees spin their webs all around the treetops so when a gust of wind or even a rainstorm occurs they are carried off into the sky and fall back onto the ground. I don't know about you but this sounds more like a nightmare.

Falling Dead Birds

Another rare occurrence happened in Beebe, Arkansas on New Year's Eve in 2010 when residents living there were stunned by thousands of dead birds raining from the sky.

There are many reasons why this could happen including environmental conditions but after a long investigation, it was discovered that the birds may have died from confusion from a firework show that evening scaring the birds to crash into one another trying to flee the area. Approximately 5,000 birds fell to the ground that year making it one of the most unusual cases in Arkansas.

Falling Red Meat

In another really bizarre case, imagine just going about your day, and then all of a sudden you get pelted by meat. That's right, red meat falling from the sky. It happened in 1876 in Olympia Springs, Kentucky when a woman was working outdoors she noticed what look like chunks of red meat falling to the ground. Well, after notifying the town's newspaper of the strange incident, two unidentified men came forward to claim they tasted the meat to see if they could identify what it was. To their delight, they said it tasted like mutton or venison. After a lengthy investigation into the meatier shower, HaHa, it was discovered that it was vomit from a vulture. Vultures do this to make their bodies lighter so they can fly better. I would have loved the see the look on those two guys' faces after they were told what it was. Rumor has it though that this incident still remains a mystery today.

Over the years, there have been many reports of falling fish, frogs, and even snakes that have rained down on villages and towns all around the world causing one to think, Is this apocalyptic? Or is this some kind of biblical sign?  One thing for sure I don't think you have to worry unless it hails then catches on fire after hitting the ground. Then I think I would start praying.
